Rift Clothing is specifically designed for Australian conditions, climates, and regulations. The superior GORTEX is imported from Japan and the clothing is manufactured by a highly experienced Nepalese company, with 25 years experience in producing trekking gear for outdoor Himalayan enthusiasts', RIFT clothing also conducts regular field-testing to develop and advance the products.

With these versatile products, we have been successful in providing quality jackets and trousers for various environmentally tough conditions, from coal mines in Northern Queensland, to ski resorts around Australia.

The Gortex membrane is extremely thin and lightweight, yet strong and durable. It features an advanced composite made of two different polymers.

One is a membrane containing over 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch (6.45cm squared).

These pores are much smaller than a droplet of liquid water which means that water in its liquid form – rain or snow, cannot penetrate the Gortex membrane.

But since the pores are much larger than a molecule of water vapour, moisture from perspiration can easily escape through the membrane.

Integrated into the structure is a second polymer which allows moisture vapour to pass through, but prevents the penetration of contaminating substances-such as oils, cosmetics, insect repellents and food, which otherwise could effect waterproofness.
